A Tribute to Bob Bateman

Bob's life and legacy…

The following information was provided by Sandie (Stephens) Jordan, a fellow band member and good friend...

We recently received word that on September 12, 2015, Robert (Bob) Bateman passed away.  During our high school years, Bob was an active member of the Bremen band. He served as first chair, percussionist and received several awards for his outstanding accomplishments.

In his senior year, Bob received 1st place at the state competition for his exceptional tympani playing. He also received special recognition from the music department at our graduation ceremonies for his dedication and many achievements in the field of music.

After high school, Bob attended Valparaiso College. He also served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington in the Army’s Nuclear Weapons Division.

He made Washington his home for the remainder of his life.

Bob was involved in many community and church activities including AWANA for twenty years, as it’s leader. He loved kids and spent fifty years coaching basketball and baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, five children, and fifteen grandchildren.  A Memorial Service was held on September 21, 2015.

Bob was a true Bremen Brave and will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

Rest in peace, dear friend.
